One thing that you should know about Pittsburg State is that by graduating from North Platte High School you are eligible to apply for the Gorilla Advantage In-State Tuition Plan. That is a significant savings. For more information you can go HERE.
Here's a tuition comparison taken from the PSU website:
A sample of tuition and fees for the 2013-2014 Academic Year
|Tuition and Fees||Gorilla Advantage||Out-of-State|
|Tuition & Fees (based on 10 hours or more)||$2,953||$7,893|
|Total Each Semester||$2,953||$7,893|
|Total Each Year||$5,906||$15,786|
Gorilla Advantage students save about $9,800 each year compared to out-of-state rates!
This is the equivalent of a $9,800 scholarship!
PSU has degrees in traditional areas such as nursing and education, yet hey also have majors in areas such as:
- 21 or higher on the ACT
- Rank in the top 1/3 of graduating class or complete the pre-college curriculum with at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Today we had the pleasure of having Jason Young, Director of Sales for the Kansas City T-Bones baseball team and Amberly Heslinga, Intern for the T-Bones speak during Career Cafe today. They gave a great presentation and discussed with students the importance of finding and completing internships during college. In working with the T-Bones they have many different responsibilities such as group sales, group promotions and occasionally helping with preparing the baseball field. This was the last Career Cafe for the school year. If you didn't sign up and attend a Career Cafe this year, I would encourage you to do so next year. It's a great opportunity to find out what interests you and what career possibilities exist. If you've never attended a T-Bones game go check them out this summer. You can find more information about the T-Bones team by going HERE.

In October the sophomore class attended the My Success Event in St. Joseph. This event is like a gigantic career laboratory. Students take information that they obtained using Missouri Connections last year, and put it to the test here. Students had the opportunity to meet with several professionals and really explore various career options. Here's a little glimpse of their morning at the My Success Event.
